Zhou summoned by Belgian stewards over Verstappen incident

Zhou Guanyu has been called to the F1 stewards after he appeared to impede Max Verstappen during Q1 at Spa-Francorchamps.

The Stake driver will start towards the back of the grid for the Belgian Grand Prix after being eliminated early from qualifying. However, he may he set for further punishment.

Towards the end of the session, the Chinese driver was seen to apparently block the Red Bull as Verstappen headed through Blanchimont on a push lap.

If found guilty, Zhou may be penalised with a three-place grid drop. He set the slowest lap time in Q1, so any sanction will have little impact on his starting position – particularly after Yuki Tsunoda’s 60-place grid penalty is applied.

Along with Verstappen, he is due to stand before the stewards at 18:00 local time, with Verstappen set to start 11th after winning qualifying but taking a 10-place grid drop for taking a fifth internal combustion engine.
