Verstappen hit with another penalty by Mexican GP stewards

Max Verstappen has been handed a further penalty by Mexico City Grand Prix stewards after his incidents with Lando Norris.

On lap 10, Verstappen forced Norris wide at Turn 4 when the McLaren was attempting to pass for second place, and moments later, lunged his title rival at Turn 8, forcing both cars off the track.

Norris branded both moves as “dangerous” with Verstappen receiving a pair of 10-second time penalties equating to 20 seconds as he finished sixth.

Norris took second to take 10 points out of the Dutchman in the drivers’ standings, with the gap now 47 points, but after the race, a further sanction was handed out to Verstappen.

For the Turn 4 incident, Verstappen originally only received the time penalty, but that document was recalled by the stewards, and then re-issued with two penalty points being issued to Verstappen.

It brings his total to six for the 12-month period.
