Verstappen car running striking Red Bull change – report

Max Verstappen has reverted to Red Bull’s floor design from the start of the season, for the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend, according to a report.

Verstappen was clear after the Belgian Grand Prix that Red Bull would use the summer break to evaluate its performance and reposition itself at the head of the pecking order. 

McLaren has consistently been fighting at the front of the field ever since it introduced a significant upgrade package at Miami, whilst a second large package was introduced at Zandvoort. 

The Woking-based team’s performance was on display in qualifying, as Lando Norris secured pole position ahead of Verstappen by over three-tenths of a second.

Part of Red Bull’s evaluation during the summer break, was to determine if it had taken a wrong turn in its development, as previously seen by Mercedes, Ferrari and Aston Martin.

Sergio Perez ran several old parts during free practice, with his car having been reverted in places to what was used in the Chinese Grand Prix. 

As for Verstappen’s car, De Telegraaf has reported that the three-time world champion has been using the floor design introduced at the start of the year. 

Despite reverting to an old-spec floor, Verstappen still complained of sliding during qualifying but did at least salvage second on the grid for his home race.
