Sargeant doubt for Dutch GP qualifying after fiery practice crash

Logan Sargeant’s participation in Dutch Grand Prix qualifying is in doubt following a huge fiery accident at Zandvoort.

In wet conditions with 15 minutes on the clock, Sargeant clipped the grass in his Williams at Turn 4, spitting him into the barrier and destroying the car.

A fire briefly broke out at the rear of the car, but was extinguished by marshals before the flames could grow.

The session was immediately red-flagged with Sargeant climbing out unaided, but given the scale of destruction to the FW46 in terms of accident damage and the fire, his participation in qualifying is in major doubt.

Qualifying starts at 15:00 local time, 14:00 UK time.

Fernando Alonso topped the times before the red flag on a 1:21.461 with the likes of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton yet to emerge from the pits.
