Sainz summoned to stewards after Singapore qualifying crash

Carlos Sainz has been summoned to the stewards following his crash during qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix. 

The Ferrari driver crashed at the final corner in Q3 with eight minutes on the clock remaining. Sainz was starting a hot lap when his car suddenly snapped, sending him backwards into the barrier. 

Following the accident, Sainz has been summoned at 23:00 local time for potentially being in breach of Article 26.7 b) of the sporting regulations for crossing the track without permission during Qualifying.

After crashing, Sainz did cross the circuit to walk into the pit lane, before the running cars had all returned to their garages. 

On top of this, the Spaniard is also under investigation for an incident in Q1. Sainz went off the circuit at the first and second corner but failed to rejoin the Marina Bay Circuit correctly. 

As a result, he has also been summoned for an alleged breach of Article 12.2.1 of the International Sporting Code and for ignoring the race director’s event notes.
