Russell latest F1 driver to face stewards’ summons

George Russell has been summoned to the F1 stewards following qualifying ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Russell ended the qualifying session in fifth place, with Mercedes unable to mix itself into the fight for pole position around the Baku Street Circuit.

Two-and-a-half hours after the session, however, Russell has been called for failing to slow for yellow flags during Q1.

Drivers are required to back off when they pass through zones that are under yellow-flag conditions, which are typically deployed when a competitor has an on-track incident.

Russell is the third driver to face the stewards post-qualifying after summons for Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon.
