Red Bull has made decision on Verstappen team-mate

Sergio Perez will remain with Red Bull for the rest of the 2024 F1 season.

The 34-year-old’s future with the team had been at risk, but it appears the constructors’ champions have opted to stick with Perez for the rest of the campaign.

The news comes following a key meeting earlier today amongst the higher reaches of Red Bull management.

It was believed the Mexican was set to be replaced by either Liam Lawson or Daniel Ricciardo, amid reports of a ‘shootout’ between the two drivers at an Imola test this coming Wednesday.

However, Red Bull appears to have kept its faith in Perez, despite a poor run of form – one that stretches back to the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in May.

In the past eight rounds, the six-time grand prix winner has scored a mere 28 points. Meanwhile, team-mate Max Verstappen has scored 141 in that span.
