Red Bull claimed a narrow victory over McLaren in the 2024 F1 fastest pit stop competition, despite both teams setting the same best time.
The Milton Keynes-based team and McLaren both performed a 1.9s pit stop this year; however, Red Bull claim the accolade having achieved it earlier in the season.
Max Verstappen was stationary for just 1.9s during a pit stop in the Chinese Grand Prix, whilst McLaren performed its rapid pit stop on Oscar Piastri’s car in Mexico City.
Only the grand prix in which the pit stop was performed could separate Red Bull and McLaren; however, the Austrian outfit was dominant when it came to consistency.
Red Bull performed seven of the 10 fastest pit stops this year, whilst Piastri’s 1.9s pit stop was the only time McLaren performed a sub two-second stop.
Ferrari managed to claim two spaces on the top 10 fastest pit stops of the season list, unlike Mercedes who do not feature.
