Ineos and Ratcliffe’s sporting empire risks atrophy with horizons narrowing (The Guardian)

‘Ratcliffe was always on to a winner in F1 even though his team has slipped from its long-standing position at the summit. They took a share of a £75m dividend in 2023, a year in which Mercedes’ profits outstripped those of a dominant Red Bull. A sport whose revenues boomed during the first half of the decade corrals competition into a small closed shop and has become a honeypot for sponsors on both sides of the Atlantic. It appears the most fruitful of Ineos’s sporting commitments.’

Engineering changes for Ganassi’s IndyCar teams (Racer)

‘In the downsizing from five entries to three for 2025, the defending IndyCar Series champions have recruited former Newman/Haas Racing and RuSport Champ Car engineer Luke Goldenstein to engineer Kyffin Simpson in the nuber eight Honda and moved 2022 Indianapolis 500-winning engineer Brad Goldberg to Scott Dixon’s number five Honda.’

Trump order could see spike in Wimbledon and Formula 1 bribes (City AM)

‘Bribes, including tickets to Wimbledon and Formula 1, could spike this year after US President Donald Trump signed an executive order that will halt the prosecution of firms accused of bribery abroad. The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) has been in place since 1977 and has stringently looked down on firms using bribes on government officials to retain or win new business abroad.’

Violent speed: a ride with a race driver around the F1 Miami Grand Prix course (Miami Herald)

‘The track’s longest, fastest straight shot ends with slowing, then standing on the brakes to negotiate a near-hairpin turn to the left. Imagine speeding down a No Outlet street, then whipping back into the driveway of the last house you passed. I readied myself, but still got jammed into the door as far as the seat and belt would allow.’
