Newey start date at Aston Martin revealed

We have had to wait a while but the start date for Adrian Newey to begin work with Aston Martin has finally been revealed.

It is now over eight months since Newey caused a stir when he announced he would be leaving Red Bull after 19 years.

Over that period, Newey earned the accolade of becoming the most successful designer in F1 history, turning Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen into multiple drivers’ champions and legends of the sport, and the team six-time constructors’ champions.

Newey mulled over his options for a considerable period. Despite an approach from Ferrari and Williams, the 66-year-old ultimately decided to join Aston Martin as managing technical partner, and a shareholder.

With Aston Martin moving into its new factory last year and taking on an engine deal with Honda, the team hopes to have a shot at world titles in 2026. Newey will naturally play a vital role in that process.

It has now been confirmed to RacingNews365 that Newey will begin his new venture on Monday, March 3.

Whilst Newey will have his opinion on this year’s Aston Martin, the last under the current ground-effect regulations, his primary focus will be on the new rules for 2026 when the sport introduces new power units and accompanying chassis.

The 2025 F1 season starts in Australia from March 14-16.
