Magnussen details process of finding next race drive

Kevin Magnussen insists “everything’s on the table” when it comes to his future in motorsport, with the Danish driver already confirmed to be leaving Haas at the end of the season.

Whether the 31-year-old will stay in F1 remains to be seen, but like other experienced drivers on the grid, his options are dwindling.

Outside of Mercedes, which appears set to announce Andrea Kimi Antonelli at the Italian Grand Prix, and Red Bull/RB, who is set on the driver front, only Alpine and Stake are yet to nail down their line-ups for 2025.

With Jack Doohan the favourite at the former and a cost of names, including incumbents Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu still very much in the picture at the latter, Magnussen’s chances of securing an F1 seat are limited and, therefore, he will likely have to settle further afield.

However, the one-time podium finisher is in no rush to tie-up his future and states there is currently “no stress” on the timeframe.

“It depends on what comes my way, and what can what doors open, anywhere,” Magnussen told select media including RacingNews365 when asked when he would like to wait until before determining his next move.

“You take it one step at a time. So, right now, there’s no stress – I can wait.”

F1 is still the preference for Magnussen, but he is open to exploring opportunities elsewhere, as he did in 2021 after being dropped by Haas the first time.

The former McLaren and Renault driver knows there is the possibility that a chance too good to turn down may come his way before the F1 driver market has played out in its entirety – something he appears ready for.

“Maybe, eventually, I’ll get something on the table that I can’t turn down and then I’ll look at it, but it’s not the situation right now,” he explained, before adding: “Everything’s on the table.”
