Legendary McLaren Senna set to land eye-watering seven-figure sum at auction

An iconic McLaren Senna car is going up for auction next month and could fetch up to £1 million.

The hypercar was first unveiled in late 2017 and was named after the three-time F1 champion Ayrton Senna, who enjoyed vast success with McLaren during his career.

With it being chassis #0001, it sits as the first ever McLaren Senna ever produced. However, the auctioneer has highlighted it is not to be confused with the first customer car in the range.

The car going up for auction was originally owned by McLaren’s Executive Director of Global Sales and Marketing at the time prior to it being sold.

The two owners used the car sparingly – it has covered just 1,030 miles at the time of consignment.

Aside from it being an iconic McLaren hypercar, the machine has natural connections to F1 due to its name.

Senna joined McLaren in 1988 and raced with the Woking-based squad for six seasons, winning titles in three of those campaigns.

The Brazilian joined Williams in 1994 but a crash at the San Marino Grand Prix that year resulted in his death at 34 years of age.
