Lawson undergoes landmark moment ahead of Red Bull F1 debut

Liam Lawson has completed his sit fitting at the Red Bull F1 squad ahead of his full-time debut with the team this year.

Lawson has been drafted in to replace Sergio Perez at the Milton Keynes-based squad following a disastrous campaign for the Mexican in 2024.

Red Bull opted to call up Lawson to partner Max Verstappen despite the 22-year-old having just 11 F1 race starts under his belt.

Lawson was picked over Racing Bulls team-mate Yuki Tsunoda, who will enter his fifth year at the sister squad next year.

As he continues to prepare for a new chapter of his career, Lawson was at Red Bull’s factory this week when he further integrated himself into the team.

“Honestly, just seeing everybody, seeing the whole team again,” Lawson said when asked what his highlight of the day was.

“It’s not a new team for me because I’ve been here for quite a few years as a junior and then being a reserve. It’s just cool to see everyone I’ve been working with for a few years.

“Now, to be an official driver, that’s exciting. I was with everyone for the seat fit.”

A seat fit is carried out ahead of the start of every F1 season to ensure a driver comfortably fits into the cockpit of the car.

Lawson will make his Red Bull F1 debut at the Australian Grand Prix in just under two months’ time.
