Horner reacts after clarification over McLaren and Mercedes front wings

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has hinted his squad could look to replicate the front wing flexing from rival teams going forward.

Following the Italian Grand Prix, it was noted that Red Bull as well as Ferrari were seeking clarification over the legality of the front wings at McLaren and Mercedes.

It came after onboard footage showed increased flexing movements from those front wings, which helps to decrease drag at high speed.

The FIA has been monitoring front wings with cameras since the Belgian Grand Prix and declared last week that all of the components across the grid are compliant with the technical regulations.

Horner has now suggested Red Bull could produce a similar solution following the all-clear from the FIA.

“I think what’s crucial for any team, as with all these things, is always clarity – is something acceptable, or is it not?” Horner told media including RacingNews365.

“If it’s deemed to be acceptable, then obviously that encourages you to pursue similar solutions yourself.

“The regulator, they have all the information, they have all the analysis, they’ve recently put cameras on many cars.

“So I guess they’re collecting that data. It’s one of those things that, as I said, if it’s deemed to be acceptable, then you pursue that route.”
