Formula E to unleash F1 record-breaker in remarkable test

Formula E pre-season testing remarkably gets underway on Tuesday afternoon just north of Madrid, at the Circuito del Jarama.

Jarama hosts pre-season testing following a last-minute switch from the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, as a result of the horrific flooding which has hit southern and eastern Spain.

The all-electric series is often criticised too quickly by many; however, it deserves incredible praise for managing to ensure that testing does take place.

It is an absolutely crucial test for the 11 teams and 22 drivers, with it being the first public viewing of the new Formula E Gen3 EVO, the fastest-accelerating FIA single-seater.

Capable of 0-60 mph in just 1.82s, it is accelerates 30% faster than a current Formula 1 car, a feat which cannot be overlooked.

FE’s technology has improved in such a short space of time, that what it has achieved with the Gen3 EVO has caught a significant amount of attention.

RacingNews365 will be present in the paddock throughout the test, which will offer the first genuine idea whether the new mini-era has resulted in a change to the pecking order.

Jaguar and Porsche will be hoping that is not the case, having collected all the titles in Season 10. Testing will also be the first chance to see reigning world champion Pascal Wehrlein run the #1.

One session takes place on Tuesday afternoon, before two sessions take place on Wednesday and Thursday.

A single session will also be held on Friday morning, before the first-ever all-female test takes place on Friday afternoon.

18 drivers are taking part in the all-female test, including the likes of Jamie Chadwick, Abbi Pulling, Bianca Bustamante and Simona De Silvestro.

In terms of the FE test, a lot of eyes are on the recently acquired and rebranded Kiro Race Co, who are running Dan Ticktum and David Beckmann despite having not yet announced its driver line-up.

Excluding Kiro, there has been seven driver changes, with Zane Maloney being the complete rookie yet to compete in an FE race.
