Former Leclerc engineer lands top new role

Charles Leclerc’s former race engineer at Ferrari Xavier Marcos has landed a new motorsport role, becoming technical director of Cadillac’s LMDh sportscar project.

Marcos had been Leclerc’s race engineer since he joined the Scuderia in 2019, but following the 2024 Miami Grand Prix, he was replaced in the role by Bryan Bozzi.

The Spanish engineer was re-assigned to “other important company programmes” – but has now transferred out of Ferrari to join Cadillac as it prepares for the season ahead, with the LMDh category competing in the GTP class of the IMSA championship and the Hypercar class of the World Endurance Championship.

Marcos, who also previously worked for the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Cup team and HRT and Williams in F1 before joining the Scuderia, initially in a factory-based position.

During their time together, Marcos and Leclerc won five grands prix, including the Monegasque’s first at the 2019 Belgian Grand Prix.
