The FIA has reduced the curfew imposed on F1 teams for one night ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix, after “logistical challenges” caused delays in freight arriving in Shanghai.
Specifically, the governing body sent a note to the 10 teams due to Pirelli encountering difficulties, which resulted in delays for the championship’s tyre supplier.
This meant a revision to the fitting schedule on Wednesday 19 March was required in order to help the teams – and Pirelli – be ready for the round at the Shanghai International Circuit.
The note confirmed: “The following concessions will be made: On the Wednesday, and for this event only, the curfew period will be reduced by a period of five and a half (5.5) hours for a maximum of six (6) operational personnel for the sole purpose of tyre preparations post tyre fitting from the tyre supplier.”
An 11-and-a-half hour curfew is imposed on all F1 teams overnight on grand prix weekends, when they are not permitted to work on their cars. Therefore, the curfew for Wednesday night only will be six hours.
