F1 legend makes demand after Verstappen-Russell feud

F1 legend Emerson Fittipaldi believes the drivers need “less PR people” around them, with him being a fan of Max Verstappen and George Russell’s feud.

Verstappen and Russell have been involved in a war of words since a qualifying incident in the Qatar Grand Prix, which saw the Dutchman receive a controversial one-place grid penalty.

Both drivers have spoken against one another to the media, with Verstappen and Russell having insisted that they have lost respect for one another.

Since the incident, Christian Horner and Toto Wolff have also gotten involved in the heated situation, which Fittipaldi is enjoying.

The two-time F1 champion is enjoying seeing Verstappen and Russell show their personality in the media, and believes it will be seen more often if drivers had less PR people around them.

Fittipaldi insists that the drivers are being controlled too much over what they say to the media.

This is why he is a fan of the Russell and Verstappen’s conflict, as it has been completely unfiltered.

“I like it a lot, because it shows the personality of each athlete,” Fittipaldi told select media including RacingNews365

“It doesn’t matter what sport you do, the public want to see who’s behind [the helmet]. It’s great to see this, I like it and I think we should have less PR people around the drivers.

“More right foot, when the flag drops, the bullshit stops,” laughed the F1 legend. “That’s it, my answer. That’s what we need in this sport, because it’s too much” he concluded.
