If Max Verstappen had not become a Formula 1 driver, he could easily have been a street fighter, a cat breeder or a player for the Dutch national football team. Those are just some of the professions his fellow drivers suggested when asked the question.

Max Verstappen has been the constant element in the driver lineup at Red Bull Racing since 2016. The Dutchman is down to his fifth teammate in the ten seasons he’s been in F1, habing decimated the other last three. The job now falls on Liam Lawson, promoted from the Austrian’s sister team, Racing Bulls, after just 11 Grands Prix. Verstappen talks about what he expects from working with his new teammate.

Max Verstappen is known for handling an unstable rear end and preferring a sharp front end in his F1 car, a driving style that sets him apart from many other drivers. However, Liam Lawson believes it’s not necessary to try to mirror the four-time world champion’s approach. Instead, he feels it’s more important to adapt to the car and the material that Red Bull Racing provides.

Just weeks after the FIA announced it was going to heavily penalise drivers when they swear, it emerged during Formula E’s recent Saudi Arabian weekend that swearing over team radio does not attract a penalty. Liam Lawson commented on the FIA’s swearing ban, saying that he was glad drivers wouldn’t be punished in the car. Still, he explained that drivers should control their language outside of a racing situation.
