Only from the Chinese Grand Prix, scheduled for this weekend in Formula 1, is it going to be known how the teams stand, according to former F1 driver Christijan Albers in the Telegraaf Formula 1 podcast. Ahead of the new season, McLaren seemed to be the top favourite, and in Australia they showed why. Lando Norris’s speed on Sunday translated into a haul of 25 points. Yet that does not necessarily say anything about the rest of the season, according to Albers.

McLaren starts the new Formula 1 season as favourites, but that does not necessarily determine they will score the most points in 2025, according to former F1 driver/team boss, Christijan Albers. In a video by De Telegraaf, he shared his predictions for the upcoming season and also claims he expects a lot from Max Verstappen’s teammate: Liam Lawson.

Max Verstappen was anything but satisfied following winter testing in Bahrain. Actually, the reigning Formula 1 world champion stated he had expected more from the RB21. True, some of the woes present in Red Bull Racing’s predecessor, RB20, had been fixed, but the Austrian team’s car still struggled going over kerbs and bumps.

Will it be McLaren or Red Bull Racing? Who will come out on top in 2025? Lando Norris or Max Verstappen? Most fans are waiting for the new season to start to see who will take the lead in the championship fight. Former Formula 1 driver Christijan Albers sees McLaren as the favourite and thinks Red Bull could be in for a tough season, he told a Viaplay press event attended by GPblog.

Sulking Red Bull Racing engineers in the paddock during the test days in Bahrain. They seemed irritated that McLaren and Ferrari were apparently allowed to use rear wings that – in the eyes of the Austrian team – were too flexible. However, Christijan Albers, former Formula 1 driver and team boss, thinks Max Verstappen’s team should not “whine” so much.

The celebratory evening at the O2 Arena was marred by one thing: the booing of Red Bull Racing, Max Verstappen and Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner by British fans during the F1 75 Live event at London’s O2 Arena. Christijan Albers was a witness to it all and now expresses his displeasure toward the events that occurred during Formula 1’s celebration.
