Breaking: Aston Martin name new team principal in reshuffle

Aston Martin has named Andy Cowell as new F1 team principal as part of a re-shuffle of its leadership structure, replacing Mike Krack.

Cowell, who joined Aston last year as CEO to replace Martin Whitmarsh will now combine the CEO and team principal duties at the Silverstone-based team.

Krack, who was appointed as team principal in 2022, will become chief trackside officer and remain on the race team.

Cowell, previously head of Mercedes High Performance Powertrains, takes on the new role with immediate effect.

The aerodynamic, engineering and performance departments have now evolved into dedicated trackside and factory-based teams, both of which will report in Cowell.

Another Aston new technical signing, Enrico Cardile becomes chief technical officer with a new internal structure at the all-new state-of-the-art Silverstone factory also coming into force.

Cardile will oversee the architecture, design and build of the new race cars in his new role, with Tom McCullough also set to remain in a leadership position, having served as performance director.

“I have spent the last three months understanding and assessing our performance, and I’ve been incredibly impressed by the dedication, commitment and hard work of this team,” explained Cowell.

“With the completion of the AMR Technology Campus and our transition in 2026 to a full works team, alongside our strategic partners Honda and Aramco, we are on a journey to becoming a Championship-winning team.

“These organisational changes are a natural evolution of the multi-year plans that we have scheduled to make and I’m incredibly excited about the future.”
