Red Bull’s second team has changed its name for the second year in a row on the official entry list for 2025 published by the FIA.

The team changed its name from AlphaTauri to RB this year. The official team name lodged with the FIA, referencing two sponsors, was Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team, while its chassis was simply called ‘RB’.

As team was registered by a company called ‘Racing Bulls’, some speculated this was what ‘RB’ represented. However RB denied the letters represented ‘Racing Bulls’ or any other phrase after it was revealed earlier this year.

The new FIA F1 entry list for 2025 revealed today shows ‘Racing Bulls’ has replaced ‘RB’ in the team’s nomenclature. This is the team’s fifth name and the fourth since its original entry, Minardi, was purchased by Red Bull in 2005. They originally renamed it Toro Rosso, then rebranded it as AlphaTauri in 2020.

The entry list also shows Racing Bulls is the only team yet to officially finalise its driver line-up for next year. The identity of Yuki Tsunoda’s team mate has not been confirmed, amid speculation Red Bull may promote either him or current team mate Liam Lawson in place of Sergio Perez next year.

The list confirms the career numbers of the four new full-time drivers on the grid. Sauber newcomer Gabriel Bortoleto will use number five, as previously raced by Sebastian Vettel. Alpine’s Jack Doohan has seven, which was Kimi Raikkonen’s number until 2021.

Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli has chosen 12, last used by Felipe Nasr in 2016. Haas’s Oliver Bearman will race as number 87, which hasn’t been used for a round of the world championship since Red Amick entered the 1959 Indianapolis 500 using it.
