Updated 2024 F1 championship standings after Russell’s Belgium disqualification

George Russell’s disqualification from victory at the Belgian Grand Prix has spelt good news for team-mate Lewis Hamilton in the drivers’ championship.

Russell won with a one-stopper at Spa, defeating Hamilton by less than a second, but the Mercedes was thrown out by the stewards after being found to be 1.5kg underweight.

The decision promotes Hamilton to a 105th career win and moves him to 150 points in the championship climbing ahead of Sergio Perez on 131 points, with Russell relegated to 116 in eighth place.

Max Verstappen’s championship lead remains at 78 points over Lando Norris, with the Red Bull now fourth, earning 12 points to Norris’s 10, having originally been set for 10 points himself to eight for Norris’s sixth.

In the constructors’, Mercedes falls to 266 points, 79 behind Ferrari with McLaren 100 ahead of 366.

Red Bull remains out-front on 408 points.
