Max Verstappen has responded to claims he could boycott a similar event to F1 75 if it is held in the UK again in the future.

The world champion was subject to booing from fans when he was first introduced to the 15,000-strong crowd, with boss Christian Horner also given the same treatment when he took to the stage.

The FIA quickly issued a statement, calling the booing “tribalism” from fans with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff declaring that booing “shouldn’t be” in F1, although he pointed out most of the booing was not directed towards Verstappen.

In the aftermath of the event, Verstappen’s father Jos claimed that should the event be held in the UK again, the Red Bull driver would be inclined to boycott the event – a claim that RacingNews365 put to Verstappen in Bahrain.

“There was booing?” Verstappen replied.

“Maybe I am deaf, I don’t really need to talk about it, it is not worth my time.”

When the group of drivers was later asked for their thoughts on the event as a whole, Verstappen simply offered his opinion of “absolutely fantastic”, to laughs from the assembled media.
