Lewis Hamilton has outlined his title mindset ahead of his first F1 season with Ferrari.

The Briton detailed that rather than focusing on achieving a record-breaking eighth championship, he is more determined to achieve his first with the Italian squad.

Hamilton has spent the winter break getting up to speed with his new team following his exit from Mercedes at the end of 2024.

He jumped behind the wheel of the SF-25, Ferrari’s challenger for the upcoming season, at a shakedown event from Fiorano alongside team-mate Charles Leclerc.

Ferrari has been tipped to be a key player in the title fight this year with Hamilton asserting confidence the team is in a position to do so.

However, the 40-year-old highlighted the prospect of his eighth title is not on his mind as he put the team’s glory first.

“To me, it would be the first Hamilton provides bold Ferrari F1 title evaluation,” he told media including RacingNews365.

“Winning the championship for Ferrari is the first. That’s what I’m working towards. I don’t think about the number eight.”

Ferrari has not won a drivers’ championship since 2007 – a drought Hamilton is aiming to end this year.

“I’m thinking about the first championship that the team’s won for some time, although they’ve already had many, many world championships over the history.

“So, for me, it’s looking for that first one with the team, and right now it’s about how can I contribute to that? How can I help them achieve that?”
