Will Alpine replace Doohan with Colapinto – and when?

Alpine rookie Jack Doohan, with just one grand prix start to his name, is already under considerable pressure to perform ahead of his first full F1 season.

The Australian made his debut in place of Esteban Ocon at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last year, but there has nevertheless been suggestions he would not make it to the start of 2025, with recently-signed third driver Franco Colapinto now officially waiting in the wings.

That move came after months of speculation linking the Argentine driver with Team Enstone, after he impressed in his nine-round run for Williams last term.

Alpine has since confirmed that Doohan will start the season, which kicks off with his home grand prix, alongside Pierre Gasly in the team’s two race seats.

However, Colapinto joining, coupled with the existing – albeit unfounded – rumour that the 21-year-old only has five or six rounds to impress or risk being replaced, means the stakes are extremely high for Doohan straight out the gates.

Do you believe Alpine will replace Doohan with the former Williams driver, and if so, when? Let us know by leaving a comment or by voting below in the latest poll by RacingNews365.
