Horner predicts ‘biggest winner’ in dramatic F1 season forecast

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has reacted to the prospect of a close F1 championship next year and has voiced who he feels will be the “biggest winner”.

A highly competitive 2024 campaign saw four teams win at least three times during the season.

Max Verstappen’s strong early season form was enough for him to seal the title before the end of the year, while McLaren edged out Ferrari in the constructors’ table at the final round.

The F1 regulations will not see significant changes next year as teams gear up for a major overhaul in 2026.

But with the cars undergoing little to no adjustments through the regulations, it has created the assumption that the upcoming season will start as the 2024 campaign ended.

As a result, Horner anticipates a closely contested affair as he backed F1 itself to be the biggest winner after the season.

“You can see it’s going to be massively close next year,” Horner told media, including RacingNews365.

“You’ve got at least four teams that are going to be in contention in the last year of these regulations of winning grands prix.

“So I think the biggest winner will be F1 next year.

“I think that it’s going to be fine margins everywhere, and of course getting out the blocks as well is always imperative, but you can see it’s such a long season that consistency will be key.”
