Final 2024 F1 penalty points as Verstappen nears race ban

Max Verstappen is one of two F1 drivers on the verge of receiving a race ban after the 2024 season-finale in Abu Dhabi.

The world champion picked up two penalty points on his super-licence for the Turn 1 collision with Oscar Piastri, as well as a 10-second time penalty to boot.

The sanction moved Verstappen onto eight penalty points, with the 12 needed to trigger a race ban.

His next set of two penalty points are not due to come off until June 30th, 2025 – the day after the Austrian GP, meaning he must navigate 11 races and two sprints in China and Miami – with a buffer of just four points.

If he reaches 12 before June 30th, he will become the first-ever reigning world champion to banned from a grand prix.

Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso also has eight points, but his next set are due to come off after the 2025 season-opener in Australia, giving him more breathing room.

The table below shows the final 2024 F1 penalty points accumulated by each of the 24 drivers who raced in the season, including Daniel Ricciardo, Logan Sargeant, Ollie Bearman, Franco Colapinto and Jack Doohan who competed in part-seasons.
