The two drivers on the front row of the grid go into today’s race separated by 59 points at the top of the championship standings. Norris has out-scored Verstappen in four of the last five races. Lando Norris will start from pole position for the fifth time this season but he’s got his championship rival Max Verstappen alongside. As surely everyone is now aware, Norris has never managed to keep the lead when starting from pole position in F1, and today the stakes could hardly be higher. Passing is so difficult in Singapore the driver who leads lap one has a strong chance of winning, but Verstappen is well-placed to throw it down the inside and leave it up to Norris to decide whether the pair have a collision which would be far worse for him in the championship than his Red Bull rival.
