Verstappen summoned by stewards over Singapore GP conduct

Max Verstappen has been summoned to attend Singapore Grand Prix stewards for swearing in the FIA Press Conference on Thursday.

The FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem is keen to see a reduction in the use of swear words  broadcast in F1, but during the official press conference, Verstappen initially described that his Red Bull was “fucked” in qualifying in Azerbaijan after set-up changes.

He was reminded to watch his language by host Tom Clarkson before getting a question on swearing, in which he answered: ‘excuse me for the language but come on, what are we? Five-year-olds six-year-olds?’

As a result, Verstappen has now been summoned for an alleged breach of Article 12.2.1.k of the International Sporting Code – language used during the FIA Press Conference.

He will attend at 1900 local time – 12:00 UK time.

At the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix, Mercedes and Ferrari bosses Toto Wolff and Fred Vasseur were handed formal warnings by the FIA after swearing in the team principals’ press conference.
