Lewis Hamilton went fastest in the morning session on the second day of F1 pre-season testing at the Bahrain International Circuit.

The Ferrari driver set the quickest time so far as the three-day event reached its half-way stage. Aside from his exploits, the four hours were characterised by light rain that prevented almost any running for a period of time.

Esteban Ocon was the only driver to venture onto the track, with intermediate Pirelli’s strapped to his Haas. When the adverse weather dissipated, action resumed at large.

The most notable incident came between Oscar Piastri and Nico Hulkenberg, who made contact at Turn 8. As the McLaren approached the Stake moving slowly, the Australian drifted wide and into the other car, that had come off the racing line.

George Russell and Carlos Sainz finished second and third fastest respectively, whilst Alpine driver Pierre Gasly and Fernando Alonso rounded out the top five.
