2024 F1 championship standings after Mexican Grand Prix

Two 10-second penalties helped relegate Max Verstappen to sixth at the chequered flag for the Mexico City Grand Prix.

Red Bull driver Verstappen was punished for two separate incidents with McLaren’s Lando Norris on lap 10 of the 71-lap race at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

A mistake from Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc on lap 63 allowed Norris to claim second place, and what was a 57-point deficit to Verstappen going into the race, has been reduced to 47.

In the constructors’ championship, a one-three for Ferrari, with Carlos Sainz taking victory, means they have moved up to second place. Leclerc took the point for fastest lap on the final tour, and they trail McLaren by 29 points.

Reigning champions Red Bull have now fallen 54 points behind McLaren, and are 27 behind Ferrari.
